Bridges Contemporary & Classic Styles at Great Bridge Presbyterian
Great Bridge Presbyterian Church, Chesapeake, VA
Allen Quantum
3 manuals, 58 stops
Great Bridge Presbyterian selected a new Quantum 58-stop three-manual
organ for the recently refurbished sanctuary. A demanding music program
serving both traditional and blended worship required an organ of great
flexibility. The new Quantum series was selected with an Orchestral Organ
along with the American Classic, Neo-Baroque, and French Romantic voicing
structures. The organ has 20 speaker cabinets to evenly produce sound
over the sanctuary. A unique sound reflection system is incorporated to
accurately reproduce natural acoustics for the organ. This instrument
allows the contemporary and classic music to be presented properly. This
church is well known for its fine music program and concert series. Cheryl
Madison, Organist, adjusts Quantum upon its arrival.

Digital & Reuter Pipes… A Match Made in Heaven at St. Gregory's Catholic
Church
St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Virginia Beach, VA
Allen Renaissance & Reuter Pipes
4 manuals, 79 stops, 9 ranks of pipes
Saint Gregory's Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, VA enjoyed their 3-manual
Allen for over 25 years. It had served in one previous sanctuary in addition
to the current sanctuary. When it was time to choose a new organ, the
3000 member church had those that wanted a new pipe organ and those who
wanted a new digital. No problem!
The committee of Reverend Mario Fulgenzi, O.S.B., Pastor, Carol Noona,
Minister of Music and Tony Rossi, Choir Director were taken to the Allen
factory by James Swiger of Jordan Kitt's Music and, with Scott Clark of
Allen, were shown several different types of organs with various voicing.
A four-manual 79-stop organ was selected with the Great Division to have
9 ranks of pipes built by the Reuter Organ Company.
Both the Allen organ and pipe division have the ability to be placed in
a larger room should the church expand again. Pipe scales and numbers
of speaker cabinets were carefully selected to make this possible.
This marriage of Renaissance technology and real pipes has proven to be
a spectacular one. Careful voicing of both pipe and digital voices has
achieved a seamless organ ensemble to lift the soul.
